The National Fire Sprinkler Association (NFSA) is a trade association representing and serving as the voice of the fire sprinkler industry. NFSA accounting staff provides administrative support services to our members to increase the number of lives saved from fire through the widespread acceptance of the fire sprinkler concept.
This full-time position supports the Association by managing daily and monthly accounting activities. Such activities include preparing and reviewing monthly journal entries, maintaining, reviewing, and reconciling accounting subsidiary ledgers, reviewing bank reconciliations, preparing general financial, cost, and profitability analysis, supervising accounting personnel (AR and AP), and interacting with other departments, including field operations, membership, learning and development, NFSA's external auditors, and NFSA's members. Specific projects for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare and deliver monthly financial reports to NFSA's 14 local Industry Promotion committees and 19 chapters around the country.
- Prepare and manage budgetary activity for each of NFSA's 14 local Industry Promotion committees and 19 chapters around the country each calendar year.
- Assist the with collections efforts for Industry Promotion Funds, as well as NFSA membership and training revenue.
- Assist preparing financial reports for the IP Trustees in advance of their quarterly meetings.
- Assist the with the annual audit, including delegation of tasks to support staff.
- Assist preparing financial reports for the Board of Directors in advance of winter, summer, and fall board meetings.
The responsibility of this position is managing specialized work efficiently, with confidence and competence. The person in this position will take work seriously, has a strong sense of duty, and is disciplined. A somewhat faster-than-average pace will be the norm for this position. Detailed, specialized work is the major focus.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred
- 3 or more years of experience in corporate or public accounting
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel and Word required
- Experience with Business Central, JET Reports, Power BI, and Microsoft Dynamics applications preferred
